We came to from Peterborough in England where there were high volumes of people, noise, traffic and crime. We chose New Zealand as it is such a beautiful country, and all its differences to England are for the better. We are asked quite often whey we chose Ashburton - well we chose Ashburton because it has a clean environment, friendly helpful people, low crime, low traffic and it is quite central considering it is less than an hour north to Christchurch and less than an hour south to Timaru.
Ashburton has all the benefits of living in a city without all the hassle. Ashburton is also half an hour away from Mt Hutt, so having beautiful scenery and a fabulous skifield was another attraction.
After arriving here we just felt so at home, so after only a few weeks everying felt so familiar, almost as though we had lived here for years. The schools and shops are excellent and convenient.
Our two young boys have settled very quickly and made many friends. They have more freedom and safety here than they have ever had.
Our move to Ashburton has been a great success.
