Business migrants have a number of visa and residency options. New Zealand has an investor residence category that grants residence to people willing to invest in the country. You’ll need to have at least five years' business experience, be 54 years or under and retain at least NZ $2 million (US $1.4 m) in an acceptable investment for five years to qualify. These investors must be willing to make New Zealand their main home by the end of the investment period.
To be eligible for residence in New Zealand under our Entrepreneur Category, you need to have successfully established, and be self-employed or working in, a business that is benefiting New Zealand. You may have applied for, and gained, a Long Term Business Visa or Permit so that you could establish the business, and now wish to apply for residence. Or you may have held a Work Permit granted under another category that allowed you to establish your own business and you now want to apply for residence.
Those wishing to set up a business in New Zealand or re-locate their existing business to New Zealand can apply for a long-term business visa or permit. For more information and an application form visit the New Zealand Immigration Service web site.
